Wouldn’t it be nice to find a community where you can grow your own food straight from farm to table?
The Philippine Chamber of Agriculture and Food Inc. (PCAFI), recently released their forecast that the country might experience a food shortage this year, due to some circumstances that the world is facing today, such as the crisis between Ukraine and Russia. Infact, many have already felt the negative effect on various domestic food supplies. Some countries are already banning food exports to the Philippines, as they prioritize their own economic and food security (Fausto,2022). This situation will take a toll on different agricultural products leading to a decrease in food supply, and an increase in some food prices, therefore burdening the lives of Filipinos even more.
As a result of this alarming situation, numerous organizations have been making efforts to promote food sustainability and environmental protection. Last September 10, 2022 The Real Estate Brokers Association of the Philippines Makati Chapter (REBAP Makati) in partnership with Kawaya’an Eco-Farm (KEDI) concluded its annual Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by participating in the Urban Gardening Seminar facilitated by Mr. Edito Busayong, Farm Consultant, together with its farm supervisor Ms. Ivana Mae Lucido.
This activity’s aim was to promote awareness amongst various organizations, brokers and developers alike to build a collective consciousness toward food sustainability-building a greener and healthier community today and for the future generations as well.
REBAP Makati’s Charter Officer CRB Rosalinda de los Santos and National Real Estate Association’s (NREA) Vice President for Chapter Affairs CRB Zenaida Fruto also participated in the activity.
