As the CEO of CitiHomes Builder and Development Inc. (MyCitiHomes), Ms. Rosie Tsai shares her vision of wholesome and sustainable communities as she leads MyCitiHomes to build from the heart. Ms. Tsai has introduced unique and future-proof ideas to the way the company works with and deals with their residents. Soon, another groundbreaking project will be launched by the company—the Kaway’an Ecofarm.
Located adjacent to Sabella Village in Cavite, the Kaway’an Ecofarm was borne out of Ms. Tsai’s desire to create a balance between the conveniences of urban living while living sustainably.
“The ecofarm aims to be a manifestation of the company’s commitment to promoting sustainable and healthy communities. The farm will generate produce for sale during weekends markets. It will also provide opportunities for residents to be engaged in planting and growing fruits and vegetables with a renewed interest in farming, and promoting a healthy lifestyle.
But more than these, Kaway’an will also be a venue for public education. It is intended to become a pioneer in the space of sustainability, food security, and environmental rehabilitation—something that can be replicated across other communities.
Joint effort
Various industry experts in the real estate, architecture and farming fields were tapped by MyCitiHomes to bring to life this vision of a place that is a haven for healthy and eco-conscious living. Ms Tsai emphasized the importance of bringing in consultants with their unique expertise and special skill set into this project in order to make it a reality.
It has been challenging to see the project through, given the limitations of the new normal. But the team has been resilient, and worked around many obstacles.
During the official groundbreaking ceremony for Kaway’an Ecofarm, Ms. Tsai took the time to thank everyone working tirelessly behind the scenes, from the architects, engineers, land development and greenhouse contractors to agripreneur and bamboo consultants to ensure that Kaway’an vision beams reality. “The beautiful thing is that all of the people involved worked together to transform a piece of rawland to a productive leisure park, she shares, adding that she considers this a blessed project, despite the setbacks brought on by the pandemic.
“Even through the pandemic, God gave us enough resources for this project to push through,” shares Ms. Tsai.
Long road ahead
There is a long road ahead for Kaway’An, as many of the planned areas and activities will still be unveiled over the next few months. But Ms. Tsai is confident. “For us to create something really good, we have to start with good people,”says Ms. Tsai. “In the midst of it all, there’s a lot of there’s a lot of diverse specialized work, but what’s important is that we start right to end right.”
Even as this ambitious project is underway, Ms. Tsai is also quick to give credit where it is due. “This project started with a vision, but it is not just my vision,” she says. “God is my vision, and God gives me a vision of the kind of life that all of us should have.”
So what can we expect from Kaway’an in the future? It is expected that farm will start selling its first harvest by May 2021 together with the awarding of rented farm plots to plantitos and plantitas of the neighborhood. Visitors and residents can look forward to a fully operational Kaway’an Ecofarm‘s early 2022.
